I have had the pleasure of traveling with CJ a number of times. The first was a trip leaving from JFK to Istanbul, Turkey in January 2000 We spent several days in Istanbul which is a beautiful city. CJ had researched our trip exceedingly well and after a quick check-in at our hotel, we were off to see the city. We visited Hagia Sophia, which was an Orthodox Cathedral, then a mosque, and now a museum. We also visited Topkapi Palace made famous by a James Bond movie, and finally the Grand Bazaar, the largest underground market in the world containing over 2,000 individual shops, just amazing.
Then we were off on a 5-day cruise which included stops at the islands of Crete, Rhodes, and Kusadasi. Crete and Rhodes were interesting with their ancient historical sites, but Ephesus, Kusadasi was amazing. It is an entire Roman City, which was the home of the Temple of Artemis, one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Archeologists have been excavating Ephesus since 1863. We also went shopping and got some amazing buys on gold.
At the end of the trip, we spent two days in Athens, Greece. We visited the buildings of the Acropolis as well as the Temple of Zeus and the Agora, Athen’s ancient marketplace. Finally returning to the states. Not only was the trip beautiful, interesting and fun, but it was also very affordable. Not only does CJ find incredible bargains, but she’s a great traveling companion.
