I love seeing octopuses 🐙 swimming and changing their appearance. It always makes me wonder how many I must have passed by without even knowing because they are so good at camouflage!

Super friendly locals here in Egypt. They definitely wanted to play. 🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬

Temple of Hathor at Dendera (also spelled Dandara and Dendara just to confuse you) is my favorite in Egypt.  It is far from normal tourist routes, but with the new highway only an hour north of Luxor near Qena. It is a Greco-Roman (30 BCE - 14 CE) temple honoring Hathor the goddess of beauty, love, joy, sex, music and dancing.   This vid is of the main hypostyle hall with the carvings restored. Enjoy!

Some tips are worth repeating. My 320W+ charging block, can fast charge my laptop and phone, drone (not on this trip) and normal charge 5 additional devices or batteries. Or I can share a USB port or several while not needing lots of power outlets. Due to the vagaries of hotel rooms I opted to buy an additional 2pin euro style 3m (10ft) power cable just in case the outlet are far from where I need or want them. Which happens way more than I care to think about. I think the included power cable was only 1m. If you look closely at the @gopro batteries, you will see they are numbered. It's a stupid and brilliant way to know which battery has been used. I charge all of them, then start the day on battery 1. I find this the easiest way to ensure I can capture the moments I want. Not all of my gear has rechargeable batteries, the notable exception is my #GarminMK2i sensor but I replaced that battery yesterday because after my dive last week, it gave me a low battery power notification. I'm topping up the charge on my Garmin because diving uses more power than regular daily use and I want to start fully charged. Another cup of coffee and everything will be powered up for my adventure.

I first saw the Solar Boat of Khufu in 2019 in the original Solar Boat Museum behind the Great Pyramid. I did not enjoy the mandatory oversize cotton "clown shoes" everyone had to wear. Now the boat has been relocated to a new dedicated building at The Grand Egyptian Museum. Bonus, no clown shoes required. The cedar wood boat is a 43m/142ft and is approximately 4,500 yeaes old! It was found perfectly preserved in a sealed pit at the Great Pyramid of Giza in 1954. It is the oldest, largest, and by far the best example of a wooden artifact from antiquity. Solar boats were built to transport the Pharaohs on their afterlife journeys. I am very happy that my next boat journey, starting tomorrow, has more amenities, cabins, and is only going scuba diving in Red Sea, Egypt. 🐬🐟🐠🐡🦈🐙🐚🪸🪼

Here I am crawling into a crypt at the Temple of Hathor. It is NOT for the claustrophobic. But it does open up to standing room.

As promised, here is more of the Royal Jewlery Museum palace. I would absolutely take a bath here, if they would only let me.

When I was researching what to do in Alexandria and saw a Jewelry Museum, of course I added it to my schedule. I do love shiny things. The Egyptian Royal Jewlery Museum is located in Princess Fatma Al-Zahra Palace, it has a collection of over 11,000 items from the Muhammad Ali Dynasty, which ruled Egypt for nearly 150 years. Built between 1919-23, is a European neoclassical style heavily influenced by Italian, French, and Belgian artists. The building features hand-painted ceilings, grand crystal chandeliers, oil frescoes depicting historical and mythological tales, and magnificent stained-glass windows detailing romantic European folklore. This gallery video shares the glass works of the main corridor. More of the building and collection coming soon.
