Ask most divers and they’re always thrilled to find a nudibranch (it’s pronounced noodee-brank.) They’re small and hidden and amazing and the Philippines has loads of them.
DISCLAIMER: I use a GoPro Hero Black 11 and not a dedicated underwater camera, so my macro photography has limits. Especially with these amazing miniature gems. NOTE: I’ve got a new close up Backscatter Macromate Mini lens to try after seeing a German diver on the trip with it.
Nudis often looks like a worm or slug created by Dr Seuss or some bizarro world dream. I wonder how many I’ve seen but not seen because I didn’t realize what I was looking at (that can apply to many underwater creatures!).
I’m not going to try to identify the nudis. I might get it wrong and some of the photos are too close for clarity. In others it’s a game of find the nudi. You may find one that I missed! Or I may think I saw a nudibranch and I was wrong. Sometimes when the dive guide is pointing straight at it I still don’t know what I’m looking at or for!
