Kas isn’t easy to get to (map link), but the best diving in Turkiye makes the journey worth it. The drive from Antalya is gorgeous itself with tons of opportunities to explore.

Kas Overview

Diving in the Med can be lovely, but it’s important to understand it isn’t like Maldives, Egypt, or Philippines, etc. Happily you can see turtles, needlefish, canyons, and wrecks.

Kas Diving

I recommend Subaqua Dive. They speak Turkish, English, and German (maybe more). A 2 tank day trip including rental equipment is 80€.

C-47 Plane Wreck

Turkish Air Forces intentionally sank a C-47 to form an artificial reef and you can dive it! Originally from WWII, C-47 DAKOTA airplane (wingspan 29m, length 20m) was purposely sunk here at a depth of 22m. Super cool that one of my dive buddies was crew on this plane (not in WWII).

Depending on conditions, you may be able to enter the cargo hold of the plane, but it’s a known urchin and lionfish habitat and the dive guides will let you know if it’s safe to penetrate.

Underwater Museum

I haven’t had a chance to dive since they placed the sculptures, but was there while they were being staged for creation of the underwater museum.

I also want to go back and dive the sunken tank!
